INTERNSHIP DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: RGA’s USIL Operations administers the individual life insurance policies reinsured by RGA for over 100 insurance companies. The Operations Service Center routes incoming documents to the proper department, processes billing statements, and sets up new death claims. The Claims team verifies treaty compliance, decides RGAs liability, and processes claim payments. The Claims team also has reporting responsibilities that aid RGA to ensure proper claims reserves, timeliness of claim payments, and aging work items. The Claims and OSC collaborate extensively with other functions within Operations and throughout other areas of RGA. 

INTERNSHIP POSITION OVERVIEW: The intern will begin by getting a base knowledge of the reinsurance world and understanding the life cycle of a policy from the day the policy is issued through the day the policy ends. In addition, throughout the program, they will aid in creating weekly/monthly metric reporting, data quality initiatives, and exposure to Microsoft Excel and SQL Queries.  

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:   

  • Typing, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint skills as needed 

  • Ability to meticulously oversee substantial amounts of data while being able to stay detail oriented. 

  • Collaboration with other interns to accomplish tasks as assigned 

  • Ability to work cross functionally to support the team by collaborating with both Claim Examiners and OSC Processors 

  • Projects as assigned with completion according to instructions.

  • Ability to summarize and develop reports from large data sets.

  • Communicate ideas verbally.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
