Your Impact
Ensure that all operational assets are utilized efficiently, maintained reliably, and managed cost-effectively, contributing to the overall productivity, safety, sustainability, and profitability of the mine operations.
As part of our team you will
In this role, the individual will:
- Lead the operation in safety. Clearly demonstrate and execute safety leadership that prioritizes employee safety and creates a culture of safety within the operation. Conduct regular safety audits, ensure compliance with industry standards, and address any safety issues.
- Enhance asset performance, analyze usage patterns, and plan/develop/implement strategies to optimize asset utilization. Align the strategic vision of the site into actionable operational plans that deliver safe, socially responsible, and sustained availability. Ensure clarity of the plan. Ensure integration of the plan with mining, processing, and technical services.
- Full asset integrity accountability - maintain Life of Asset plans for all assets and equipment. Develop and oversee comprehensive maintenance programs, including preventive and predictive maintenance schedules. Increase production, availability, and efficiency of the area through optimal asset management, ensuring availability of the equipment and/or plant in order to achieve planned, sustained availability in a safe and cost effective manner.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on asset performance - use trends to identify best practices and best performance approaches, and drive continuous improvement within asset management.
- Act as a leader in maintenance practices, standards, new equipment, and tools. Effectively own and manage contractor relationships, internal and external maintenance services, and lead the best approach to delivering asset management services to the site.
- Analyze maintenance and operating costs and implement cost-saving measures. Provide input into the capital planning process.
- Lead a team of operators, technicians, contractors, and supervisors to achieve maintenance goals. Articulate, role model, and drive a culture of health and safety across maintenance and Asset Management. Act as a leader, coach, and mentor in all areas of asset management, safety, people leadership, and expected behaviors. Build current and future capability through training, talent management, and development pathways.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop management systems to manage identified risks, and verify that the associated actions are being completed.
- Ensure all regulatory requirements or public commitments associated with asset management activities are met.
- Form part of the site leadership team, actively contributing to overall site leadership, culture, and site delivery, with focus and responsibility for the mining portfolio, production, safety, and teams.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s or PhD) may be preferred. Several years of experience in Asset Management, with a progression through roles of increasing responsibility. Advanced experience in leading and developing teams.
- Advanced ability to interact, influence, and resolve conflict with various stakeholders, including employees, contractors, regulators, and the community.
- Advanced understanding of asset lifecycle management, including acquisition, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Advanced knowledge in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. Advanced knowledge of mining/processing. Advanced knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for asset performance.
- Advanced skills in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with asset operation and management. Competent understanding of the latest technologies and innovations in Asset Management. Advanced knowledge of health, safety, environment, and sustainability regulations and practices.
- Competent understanding of cost management and financial principles in mining. Advanced skills in strategic and long-term planning. Advanced English and Spanish.
Your work environment
The position will require travel to appropriate locations (Mostly Cajamarca/Site and Lima).
The position will require periodic living in the Yanacocha camp.
The person must be in good health and physical condition to work in the field in various climatic conditions and at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters above sea level.
The incumbent may be required to travel and assist other sites nationally and internationally.
