Your impact

 

 

As an Exploration Field Technician, you will support near-mine and brownfields exploration activities at Boddington. You will play a critical role in collecting high-quality geological data, maintaining sample integrity, and ensuring exploration programs are delivered safely and efficiently.

 

Your contribution will directly support exploration success through accurate sampling, field execution, and adherence to best-practice safety and operational standards.

 

 

As part of our team you will

 

 

  • Conduct geological, geochemical and geophysical sampling and survey activities in line with established procedures
  • Collect, prepare and manage samples, ensuring quality control and data integrity throughout the process
  • Carry out core handling, cutting, sampling and geotechnical logging activities
  • Administer, store and retrieve core samples, ensuring accessibility and compliance with SOPs
  • Maintain organised core storage systems to support easy retrieval and future analysis
  • Follow geoscientists’ instructions for sampling and support exploration program delivery
  • Collect XRF, hyperspectral, density and other rock property data
  • Support and supervise contract field teams, ensuring adherence to safety and work standards
  • Perform routine QC checks, including sample and equipment calibration
  • Maintain and service field equipment to optimise performance and reliability
  • Assist with testing and implementing new equipment and technologies
  • Identify and assess risks within field activities and uphold strong safety practices
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including core disposal, reuse and site procedures

 

 

Prerequisites for your success in the role

 

 

  • Experience in a similar Exploration Field Technician, Mine Technician or Geology support role, ideally within a large open pit environment
  • Secondary schooling (minimum requirement)
  • Experience in field-based exploration, including geological, geochemical or geophysical sampling
  • Practical experience in core handling, sampling and data collection (highly regarded)
  • Strong understanding of QAQC processes and field data integrity
  • Familiarity with field equipment operation and maintenance
  • Sound knowledge of safety protocols and exploration SOPs
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow direction and contribute effectively
  • A hands-on approach with good problem-solving ability and attention to detail

 

 

Your work environment

 

 

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity at Newmont’s Boddington Gold Mine in Western Australia, working within a large-scale open pit operation on an 8/6 drive-in, drive-out roster. Village accommodation is available for the ideal candidate.

 

You will work across core shed and field-based environments, supporting exploration programs in both near-mine and brownfields settings. The role involves outdoor work, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a strong commitment to safety, sustainability and operational excellence.
