Your impact
We are seeking 3rd or 4th year Heavy-Duty Plant Mechanic apprentices, or trade-qualified individuals, who are looking to continue or further develop their career with Newmont.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates who have already commenced their apprenticeship (or completed one) and are eager to build on their existing skills in a large-scale mining environment.
In this role, you will continue your development toward becoming a qualified Heavy-Duty Plant Mechanic, supporting the maintenance and servicing of mechanical systems and components across our Heavy Mobile Equipment fleet.
As part of our team you will
As an Apprentice Heavy-Duty Plant Mechanic, you will contribute to ensuring maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and effectively. You will also support maximising scheduled maintenance and minimising unscheduled downtime through quality workmanship and attention to detail.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
- Currently a 3rd or 4th year apprentice, or trade qualified in a relevant mechanical discipline (applications from 1st year apprentices will not be considered)
- Looking to continue or complete your apprenticeship within a mining environment
- Hold a C Class driver’s licence (provisional licences accepted)
- Demonstrated interest and experience working with heavy machinery, engines, and mechanical systems
- SAP and SIS experience (highly regarded)
- Ability to problem solve and adapt to evolving technologies
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to safety, learning, and continuous improvement
Your work environment
Working a family-friendly 5/2, 4/3 roster for the first three months, before transitioning to an 7/7 roster, this role allows for a balanced lifestyle. You will have the option to live locally or utilise DIDO accommodation while contributing to safe and efficient mining operations.
