Job Description

POSITION: Adult Education Summer School Lead Teacher - Internal

July 6, 2026 � Aug 13, 2026 (Monday through Thursday)

Staff hours: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. plus one hour of prep time

LOCATION: Starkweather Academy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Applicants must possess a valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate or a valid Michigan Administrator certificate.

2. Ability to engage in problem identification and solving.

3. Ability to work well with others.

4. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.

5. Good attendance record.

6. Good organization skills.

7. Evidence of ability to establish working relationships that result in mutual respect.

8. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.

9. Ability to provide leadership that results in teamwork and collaborative working relationships.

10. Ability to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborates with the Summer School Director in all phases of summer school, including pre-planning, during, and post-operations.

2. Completes designated tasks related to the planning and execution of pre- and post-summer school activities.

3. Assesses staffing requirements and facilitates recruitment processes.

4. Organizes classroom assignments and ensures appropriate facilities for specific courses.

5. Works closely with the marketing department to develop promotional materials such as flyers and online content.

6. Manages procurement of essential supplies and equipment for faculty and staff.

7. Assists in staffing coordination for administrative functions.

8. Liaises with security and maintenance teams to address facility needs and communicate classroom allocations across the campus.

9. Acts as the primary point of contact for inquiries from parents and students.

10. Monitors student attendance records.

11. Facilitates the registration process and class scheduling.

12. Collects grades from teachers and ensure they are accurately recorded.

13. Communicates effectively with counseling staff involved in the program.

14. Compiles a roster of students requiring transportation services.

15. Coordinates with food service personnel to ensure adequate provision for participants.

16. Collaborates with the Executive Director of Technology to arrange for the distribution of Chromebooks to students under the guidance of the Summer School Principal.

17. Establishes and manages a Revtrak account with the finance department to facilitate fee collection and payment verification.

18. Facilitates the application process for teaching positions and support in applicant review alongside the Summer School Principal.

19. Manages initial communication channels, including email and phone correspondence.

20. Compiles and organizes documentation related to the summer school program, including attendance records, course materials, assessments, and evaluations.

21. Provides support in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the summer school program.

22. Other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Summer School Director

PROGRAM DATES: July 7, 2026 � Aug 14, 2026 (Monday through Thursday)

SALARY/ PAY RATE: $45.00 per hour
