Job Description

POSITION: Educational Technology Manager
LOCATION: Plymouth-Canton Educational Support Center

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Educational Technology Manager serves as a critical bridge between the IT department and instructional staff. This role leads the district's educational technology initiatives, ensuring that digital tools and hardware are seamlessly and effectively integrated into the curriculum to enhance student learning. The Manager supervises technology integration staff, coordinates the instructional implementation of digital resources, develops comprehensive professional learning programs, and collaborates with technical teams to ensure reliable educational environments. In doing so, they provide leadership that emphasizes the intentional, purposeful use of digital resources while advocating for balanced instructional practices that limit excessive student screen time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

1. Master's degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
2. Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
3. Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience or direct experience in educational technology coaching.
4. Strong working knowledge of the instructional application of educational technology platforms, including Canvas LMS, Google Workspace for Education, Clever, and SchoolAI.
5. Familiarity with the instructional use of Windows PCs, Mac OS, Chromebooks, iPads, and interactive classroom technologies.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate a clear instructional vision and work collaboratively with district leaders, IT colleagues, and teachers.
7. Proven ability to analyze instructional needs and develop technological procedures or solutions to solve them.
8. Experience with Culturally Responsive Instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and supporting equity initiatives in schools.

PREFERRED:

1. Experience supervising, managing, or leading professional staff or teams.
2. Minimum of 5 years of teaching or instructional coaching experience.
3. Knowledge of developing asynchronous training materials and familiarity with ADA compliance and accessibility standards.
4. Experience with digital content creation and instructional design tools (e.g., Canva, SnagIt, generative AI tools, or similar platforms).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervises, evaluates, and guides Technology Integration Specialists and other assigned support staff.
2. Leads the evaluation, selection, and integration of instructional technology resources, web tools, and digital subscriptions (such as Savvas, HMH, McGraw Hill, and TCI).
3. Acts as a primary liaison between the Curriculum & Instruction team and the Technology Department to ensure technical infrastructure planning aligns with curricular goals.
4. Collaborates with the IT support team to communicate instructional needs, escalate classroom technology issues, and ensure minimal instructional downtime.
5. Develops, manages, and delivers high-quality professional learning opportunities, including webinars, asynchronous courses, and face-to-face coaching sessions.
6. Plans, develops, and delivers targeted professional development and training for staff during the summer months to prepare for the upcoming school year.
7. Oversees the creation and maintenance of learning resources, user guides, and the district's professional learning catalog.
8. Collaborates with summer educational programming staff to ensure the intentional and purposeful integration of technology in summer learning initiatives.
9. Assists the Technology Integration Specialists with conducting needs analyses to assess the technology skill levels of students and staff, utilizing this data to design targeted training and drive problem-solving initiatives.
10. Collaborates with teachers and media specialists to support and enhance student digital citizenship instruction across the district.
11. Promotes and communicates guidelines regarding data privacy, copyright law, and the ethical distribution of digital resources, actively supporting the district's efforts regarding COPPA and CIPA compliance.
12. Monitors and evaluates the ongoing effectiveness of the district's instructional technology program, utilizing data to demonstrate the impact on student learning.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.

BEGINNING DATE: ASAP

SALARY RANGE:  Non-Affiliated � Grade 9 
$90,261 - $119,731
Placement on salary schedule will be based upon experience and qualifications.
52 weeks per year

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
