Job Description
We are currently looking for a Data Scientis to strengthen the Cronos Europa team.
Location: Near-site (accessible within 2 hours from Brussels) - Remote work possible
This is NOT a full‑remote or worldwide remote position.
Remote work is strictly limited to candidates physically located within a 2‑hour distance from Brussels.
Responsabilities:
- Provision of expert advice and assistance, technology watch, evaluation studies, architectural considerations, applicable standards, solution patterns and best practices in following areas of expertise: Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence.
- Design, development and deployment of AI-powered applications using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and LLM-based architecture.
- Development of NLP pipelines for document processing, summarization, semantic search and conversational AI
- Implementation of machine learning models (supervised / unsupervised) for recommendation systems, classification and prediction
- Design and optimisation of data ingestion and transformation pipelines in cloud environments (Azure, Databricks, APIs)
- Data modelling, data analysis and preparation of datasets for machine learning and AI solutions
- Integration of AI solutions with existing enterprise systems and data platforms
- Contribution to the design of data lake architectures and ETL processes (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
- Development of analytics and reporting solutions (e.g. Power BI dashboards)
- Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users.
- Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting
Technical skills:
- Data Mining, data preparation for Machine Learning / Deep Learning algorithms.
- Machine Learning / Deep Learning techniques in solutions development.
- Natural Language Processing (NLP), including semantic search, text processing and conversational AI applications
- Data science / data analytics tools and technologies such as Python, LLM frameworks like Haystack, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Jupyter Notebook, etc...
- Data engineering and data processing pipelines (ETL, APIs, Azure Databricks, Spark)
- Good knowledge of data modelling, data warehouse and data lake architecture
- Experience with BI and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI)
- Docker containerisation and software virtualisation and deployment is an asset
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum) is an asset.
- Good knowledge of architecture best practices and patterns.
Non-Technical skills :
- Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team;
- Ability to participate in multilingual meetings;
- Ability to work in multi-cultural environment, on multiple large projects; • Excellent Team Player
- Ability to understand, speak and write English (C1), French (B1) will be an advantage;
- High degree of discretion and integrity is required as the applications managed and maintained in the unit could contain personal and confidential data
Spécific Expertise :
- at least 2 years of prompt engineering for LLMs
- at least 5 years of Data / systems
- at least 3 years of BI / reporting
Profile :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Business Management, or a related field.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English is required, French is a strong asset.
