Salary: $122,179-$182,853 Depending on qualifications and experience.

DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Transportation works under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Operations & Infrastructure. The Director is responsible for the management of the transportation department, including the coordination of a service center.
The Director may assist in the responsibilities of Safety & Logistics. The Director will coordinate and collaborate with K-12 school leaders and administrators to ensure students safe and efficient transportation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the point of contact for transportation-related questions
- Supervise the Transportation Center and coordinate all transportation related areas
- Coordinate with the special education department on transportation needs
- Be responsible for the hiring and training of transportation drivers, aides, mechanics, and staff
- Manage annual transportation budget
- Collaborate with district personnel and school administrators to facilitate busing
- Respond to patron, student, and school inquiries concerning transportation in a timely manner
- Evaluate employee performance
- Supervise routing team
- Conduct monthly accident review committee
- Coordinate with UHP for yearly bus inspections
- Oversee annual review of ineligible routes and presents findings to supervisors and the board of education
- Monitor weather conditions and present findings to the Executive Director of Operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check
- Master's Degree/Administrative license required
- School administration experience required
- Requires the ability to communicate orally and in written form
- Must be able to take initiative, work independently, be flexible, and be a collaborative team player
- Must demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for others
- Prior experience in transportation management on a large scale preferred
NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS---Not limited to the following:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
