Job Description

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification

 

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of GT and and Advanced Academics student's instructional needs
  • G/T 30 hours Initial Training
  • Delivers rigorous instruction to G/T students in order to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth
  • Provides standards-based, data-driven, differentiated instruction that engages students and that maximizes the growth and development of every child.
  • Creates a safe and supportive learning environment to maximize student learning
  • Provides high quality G/T Instruction to students across multiple campuses
  • Ensures a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment
  • Organizes a balance of teacher-direct and children-initiated activities

Function:

Supports the district's G/T program by providing a student pullout program at the students' home campuses. Leads, guides, and directs students in completing projects based on the Texas Performance Standards. Provides support and feedback for the district gifted and talented program.

 

Reports To: Director of Advanced Academics & Guidance Services

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitate student-led, inquiry-based, and project-based learning experiences for gifted and advanced learners.
  • Guide students in developing research questions, project proposals, timelines, and final products.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to support independent learning, goal setting, and reflection.
  • Design and implement differentiated instruction and enrichment opportunities that extend beyond grade-level standards.
  • Support students in developing critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Teach research skills, including source evaluation, data analysis, and ethical use of information and technology.
  • Develop and use authentic assessments, including portfolios, exhibitions, presentations, and project rubrics.
  • Monitor and document student progress and achievement in long-term projects.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align projects with curriculum standards and interdisciplinary learning.
  • Coordinate mentors, guest experts, and community partnerships to support student projects when appropriate.
  • Facilitate student presentations, showcases, or exhibitions of learning.
  • Support the social-emotional development of gifted learners, including perfectionism, motivation, and peer collaboration.
  • Communicate regularly with families, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress and program activities.
  • Maintain program documentation and contribute to gifted program evaluation and improvement.

Salary: TCHR: $54,500 minimum, plus $1,000 Master's degree stipend if applicable.
