Job Description

Position Summary

The Informatics Technician supports the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of healthcare information systems and technology solutions that improve clinical workflows and operational efficiency. This role serves as a liaison between clinical staff, operational teams, and information technology departments to ensure accurate data management, system functionality, and user support. The Informatics Technician assists with troubleshooting, training, system enhancements, and maintaining data integrity to support quality patient care and organizational objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for clinical and healthcare information systems, applications, and electronic health record (EHR) platforms.
  • Assist with system implementation, upgrades, testing, and optimization initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and user issues and escalate concerns as appropriate.
  • Support clinical staff and end users with system navigation, workflow processes, and technical questions.
  • Assist in maintaining data integrity, accuracy, and quality within information systems.
  • Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement or workflow enhancement.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and document findings, issues, and recommendations.
  • Create and maintain user guides, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct system audits and review reports to identify discrepancies or compliance concerns.
  • Collaborate with IT, clinical leadership, and operational teams regarding technology initiatives and system updates.
  • Assist with onboarding and training staff on information systems and technology tools.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA regulations, and data security standards.
  • Support reporting functions and assist with gathering and analyzing healthcare data.
  • Maintain documentation related to system changes, incidents, and resolutions.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and process enhancement efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Health Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of healthcare, informatics, information systems, or technical support experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare, hospital, behavioral health, or correctional healthcare experience preferred.

  • Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations
  • Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts
  • Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility
