Job Description
The Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) advances innovative, practical solutions to population health challenges at the local, state, and national levels. CPHP strives to translate public health research for implementation, education and training purposes for the broader public community, students, practitioners, and public health leaders. Core areas of expertise include internal and external partner education, leadership and organizational development, program planning and implementation, and implementation science.
The Center for Healthy Environments and Communities (CHEC) co-creates environmental health solutions with communities in Southwest PA by building equitable community-academic partnerships and applying research-based methods to enhance community resilience and well-being.
Duties include:
Program Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate and implement stakeholder engagement activities using diverse outreach strategies and communication methods, including meetings, trainings, surveys, assessments, interviews, virtual engagement, and community events
Support relationship-building and collaboration with public health agencies, healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to advance program goals and strengthen partnerships
Develop and maintain project work plans, tracking progress and deliverables across multiple concurrent CPHP and CHEC initiatives
Support planning and implementation of education, training, and leadership development programs for practitioners, students, and community partners
Assist in coordinating community-engaged research activities, including scheduling, logistics, and stakeholder communication
Contributing to strategic initiatives, including development of new programs and partnerships to expand CPHP's and CHEC's impact and support innovative public health programming
Administrative and Operational Support
Manage logistics for events and training, including stakeholder communication, material development, and on-site support
Support grant development activities, including contributing to proposal preparation and progress reporting
Oversee CPHP and CHEC communications and outreach efforts, including managing social media presence and developing promotional materials
Provide administrative and logistical support for the Disaster Preparedness Certificate program housed within CPHP
Monitor program budgets and process financial transactions in coordination with School of Public Health administrative staff
Maintain organized filing systems and databases for program records, contracts, and correspondence
Prepare reports, meeting summaries, and presentations for Center leadership and external stakeholders
Qualifications & Skills
Training and/or experience in public health practice, community engagement, or related fields
Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse sectors and communities
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, trainings, meetings, and outreach activities simultaneously while working collaboratively across disciplines and with government, healthcare, academic, and community partners
Experience with program evaluation, survey development, data collection, and data-informed decision-making
Strong organizational and project management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience with training facilitation, event coordination, and capacity-building activities preferred
Manages and facilitates overall day-to-day research administration activities and operational functions. Collaborates to ensure compliance, productivity, and progress. Develops and implements program policies and procedures and adheres to protocols, regulations, and budgets. Coordinates program events and logistics. Performs budgetary functions.
The Project Manager plays a key role in supporting CPHP and CHEC’s mission by coordinating programs, supporting administrative functions, and contributing to strategic initiatives. This position works closely with Center leadership and supervises student workers to ensure efficient operations and high-quality program delivery.
The employee will be required to sit, stand, walk, lift, and carry materials. Must be able to attend meetings on campus and travel to regional and statewide planning meetings, among other outreach and planning activities. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
