Job Description

The Civil Rights Coordinator serves as the University’s Title IX Coordinator and provides strategic leadership for the University's response to complaints of sexual harassment and other forms of discrimination. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Compliance, Investigations & Ethics, this position directs the institutional framework for compliance with federal, state and local civil rights laws, including Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other civil rights regulations.

Serves as main contact for sexual violence prevention and education and responds to government inquiries regarding anti-discrimination laws, regulations, and requirements. Investigates complex claims and complaints of discrimination. Manages and tracks outcomes of training and education programs. Develops, evaluates, and improves disclosures, policies, procedures, and practices. Designs climate surveys, manages complex inquiries, and organizes other files regarding compliance.

Compliance Support: Helps to direct compliance with civil rights laws and serves as an advisor to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Engagement and Wellbeing regarding civil rights compliance, risk mitigation, and best practices. Works with appropriate campus units/departments to support institutional policies and procedures for addressing Title IX, and ADA complaints and related civil rights matters.

Complaint Management: Works with program liaisons and investigators to help guide the University’s response to Title IX and sexual harassment complaints. This includes receiving and screening complaints, maintaining confidential records, and recommending appropriate interventions. The coordinator will also receive, review, and approve investigative reports and Section 504 grievances following a complaint.

Monitoring and Reporting: Work with the compliance team to track, maintain detailed reports, and conduct on-site reviews, if necessary, to ensure adherence to civil rights laws.

Training and Awareness: Coordinates with the Office of Institutional Engagement and Wellbeing to design and deliver training programs to staff, students, or faculty about civil rights laws, anti-discrimination policies, and inclusive practices

Duties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to use a computer at a desk or similar workstation, and travel to on-campus meetings as needed.
