Global Legal & Compliance - Senior Real Estate Counsel 

 

Role Overview

 

The Senior Real Estate Counsel is a senior legal leader responsible for providing end to end legal support for the Company’s enterprise real estate portfolio and workplace strategy. This role leads and negotiates complex, high impact real estate transactions and serves as a trusted advisor to senior executives on matters that materially affect the Company’s financial position, risk profile, and long-term enterprise footprint.

 

Working in close partnership with the Office of the CFO, Real Estate Solutions, and cross functional leaders, this role balances sophisticated legal judgment with commercial acumen to enable enterprise objectives, manage risk, and drive disciplined execution across the global real estate lifecycle.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead Complex Real Estate Transactions - Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, joint ventures, restructurings, tax exchanges, and real estate related litigation, providing end to end legal oversight from strategy through close.
  • Strategic Advisor to Senior Leadership - Serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior executives on high impact real estate and workplace initiatives that affect the Company’s rights, obligations, capital strategy, and enterprise real estate posture.
  • Enterprise Real Estate Legal Counsel - Provide substantive legal counsel on commercial real estate matters, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, master service agreements, due diligence materials, and related documentation. Coordinate with external counsel, regulators, and other third parties as appropriate.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration - Partner closely with internal stakeholders including the Office of the CFO, Real Estate Services, Tax, Communications, Litigation, Risk, and business leaders to support global enterprise initiatives and ensure alignment between legal strategy, financial objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational execution.
  • Leadership and Oversight - Supervise and guide legal professionals and external resources by managing workflow, assigning and reviewing work, and maintaining the highest standards of legal quality, professional judgment, and business ethics.

Key Deliverables & Measures of Success

  • Executed Transactional Documentation - Timely, accurate, and defensible execution of real estate transactional documentation supporting enterprise goals.
  • Resolution of Enterprise Real Estate Needs - Successful resolution of real estate matters, including disputes, settlements, litigation, and coordination of ancillary real estate needs involving vendors, tax matters, and related stakeholders.
  • Compliant and Efficient Real Estate Legal Function - A compliant real estate legal capability that appropriately balances legal risk and business objectives, while promoting efficient and cost-effective allocation of resources across technology, systems, standard forms, and workforce utilization.
  • Actionable Legal Advice - Clear, practical legal advice and recommendations that align client objectives with legal risk management, regulatory compliance, and governance considerations.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Extensive experience advising on complex commercial real estate transactions in a large law firm, in house legal department, or a combination of both.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior executives on sophisticated, high stakes matters with sound judgment and strong business acumen.
  • Experience operating in a complex, matrixed organization and partnering closely with finance and executive leadership.
  • Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or leading other attorneys or legal professionals strongly preferred.
