Role Summary As a Manufacturing Technician within Aflex, you will play a critical role in the fabrication, assembly, and production of highly configurable PTFE hose assemblies used across pharmaceutical, industrial, and food-grade applications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, technical precision, and the ability to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment where product variation, quality standards, and customer requirements are constantly evolving. Unlike standard assembly roles, the Aflex Manufacturing Technician is responsible for interpreting work orders, understanding assembly specifications, verifying materials, executing precision builds, and identifying issues before they impact production or customer delivery. This role requires a high level of ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot assembly challenges while maintaining production efficiency and quality. The successful candidate will contribute directly to product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational success by producing high-quality hose assemblies, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating closely across multiple operational departments. What you’ll be doing • Assemble PTFE hose assemblies according to work orders, engineering drawings, BOMs, and customer specifications. • Perform hose cutting, fitting preparation, ferrule placement, crimping, and final assembly operations • Execute hot-forming processes and specialized assembly techniques where required. • Verify proper hose type, fitting compatibility, and assembly requirements prior to build • Use measuring tools such as callipers, gauges, and measuring tapes to ensure build accuracy and tolerances. • Follow approved crimp specifications and manufacturing standards. • Perform in-process inspections to identify damage, defects, and assembly compliance. • Support reduction of rework through strong attention to detail and proper process execution. • Work with leadership and quality teams to identify root causes and improve processes • Operate hose cutting equipment, crimping machines, assembly tooling, and related manufacturing equipment. • Support urgent customer requirements and production priorities. • Maintain work area organization and cleanliness to support efficient production flow. • Assist in cross-training and support team flexibility across the production line when needed. • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and improve assembly consistency. • Support implementation of work instructions, SOPs, and process improvements. • Other duties as assigned. Who you’ll be working with • Production Manager: Operational support, process improvements, and escalations. • Aflex Production Supervisor: Daily priorities, workflow management, and support. • Other Manufacturing Technicians: Team collaboration and shared production support. • Production Planner: Work order priorities and production scheduling. • Warehouse Team: Material readiness, inventory, and kitting support. • Quality Control Team: Testing, inspection, traceability, and quality feedback. • Engineering / AX Support Teams: BOM issues, technical support, and system corrections when needed. This is what you’ll need to be successful in this role • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical assembly skills. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions. • Strong understanding of assembly processes, fitment, and mechanical tolerances. • Experience with custom-configured manufacturing or assembly work preferred. • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards. • Ability to identify assembly issues and troubleshoot problems effectively. • Strong time management and ability to work efficiently under production deadlines. • Experience using hand tools, power tools, crimping equipment, and precision measuring tools. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to adapt to changing production demands and customer priorities. • Understanding of safety procedures and manufacturing compliance standards. • Previous manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly experience preferred (2+ years recommended). • Willingness to work overtime when required to support business needs.
