Transportation Engineer 4, Office of Transportation & Economic Development, PN 20064441

What You Will Do:

  • You will provide budgetary information and research-based recommendations to support long-range planning and statewide Highway Safety Improvement initiatives.

  • You will evaluate, recommend, and implement engineering policies, procedures, and standards with statewide safety implications.

  • You will independently prepare and sign correspondence related to Highway Safety Improvement for consultants, governmental agencies, private industries, and the public.

  • You will represent the section at meetings, conferences, and workshops while supporting additional work-related assignments as needed.

Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 3, 85643; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.

-Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. exp. as group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction & training to employees engaged 10 OF 11 in engineering projects or 2 yrs. exp. in managing engineering research projects (i.e., managing research projects applies only to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one year probationary period.

This position is overtime exempt based on FLSA Standards.

If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code. 

This position has been designated as a Career Professional position per the Ohio Revised Code 5501.20.
