Program Summary: Project HOPE is supporting the national health system and providing humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected population in Lebanon. The current response portfolio focuses on Health and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support programming through Project HOPE programs and local partnerships. POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Communications Officer is to increase Project HOPE’s visibility and raise awareness of our humanitarian activities in Lebanon. This position is responsible for Project HOPE’s in-country media relations and the creation of stories, interviews, and other content that can be used to promote Project HOPE’s response. The Communications Officer will contribute to these efforts by serving as the field lead with the support and oversight of Project HOPE’s Global Communications department as needed. This is a part-time consultant role (approximately 20 hours per week) expected to start on 01 June 2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Communications Strategy Planning · In coordination with regional and headquarters communication focal points, develop and implement a communication strategy to advance advocacy and awareness of Project HOPE’s programming in Lebanon. · Contribute to strategic messaging aligned with organizational priorities and donor visibility requirements. · Work closely with regional social media and communication service provider on content development and management. Content Gathering, Development Storytelling · Identify and gather compelling success stories, human-interest features, and news angles to support website, social media, donor reporting, and media relations efforts. · Conduct interviews with program staff and participants to generate high-quality content for external communications. · Draft communication materials, statements, press releases, fact sheets, and briefing notes to support Project HOPE’s Lebanon programming. · Ensure all communication materials are accurate, ethical, and aligned with safeguarding and branding standards. Media Relations Spokesperson Support · Coordinate closely with HQ media teams and serve as the on-the-ground point of contact for media inquiries, interviews, and site visits. · Prepare and brief Lebanon-based staff for media interviews and public engagements. Coordination Advisory Support · Provide communication guidance to country office staff on visibility, branding, messaging, and media engagement, based on HQ guidelines and protocols. · Coordinate with program teams to ensure communication efforts accurately reflect program impact and technical content. Other Duties · Perform other communications-related duties as assigned to support the effective implementation and visibility of Project HOPE’s programming. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related area. · Three years minimum in a similar role overseeing and delivering communications services; experience with communications strategy at other NGOs is desirable. · Fluency in English and Arabic · Proven skills in the development and implementation of communication/media products, including solid writing skills. · Strong knowledge of social media use and tools. · Excellent interpersonal and networking skills · Ability to develop messaging and positioning for an international organization. · Ability to elicit and communicate success stories. · Ability to transform technical information for different target audiences. · Strong commitment to the humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence. · Flexibility and adaptability to changes in work environment. · Strong written and oral communication skills. · Teamwork and cooperation, including the ability to cope with a stressful workload. · Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet).
