A Brief Overview
This role is responsible for leading the High Net Worth (HNW) underwriting team and delivering underwriting services across offshore markets, including Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bermuda. The role operates as part of a broader regional HNW underwriting team, working in close partnership with the Hong Kong team and other regional stakeholders to ensure consistent, high-quality underwriting standards and service delivery. The incumbent will combine deep HNW underwriting expertise with people leadership responsibilities, while also supporting underwriting activities for other lines of business as required.
What you will do
- Lead and manage the HNW underwriting team to manage key client relationships, maintaining high level of client satisfaction and engagement:
- Deliver underwriting solutions and services, adhering to all service level agreements and client commitments, not limited to case referrals, Quality Assurance Reviews, product/initiatives development, and training.
- Work closely with the Hong Kong and Singapore underwriting teams and other regional stakeholders to deliver a coordinated HNW underwriting proposition.
- Monitor key indicators of client relationships and assures that corrective actions are taken when needed. This involves review of client engagement and general levels of client satisfaction.
- Holistic engagement including key clients, retrocession partners, Regional and Global stakeholders.
- Close collaboration with internal functions, not limited to Business development, Product development, and Pricing to support day-to-day Quotation activity, implementing innovative product and underwriting solutions to drive profitability and growth for RGA and clients.
- Underwrite and approve cases in line with RGA standards, philosophy, and authority limits and provide technical leadership on complex, large, or sensitive HNW cases.
- Accelerate the business by:
- Maintaining competitive edge by sharpening underwriting through continuous development of best in class underwriting frameworks/ initiatives and enhancement of in-house guidelines and manuals.
- Capturing the client’s needs and objectives; leads and assists with solution design; collaborates with RGA experts and consults with clients on how best to meet their business objectives.
- Achieve Operational excellence by optimizing core operational and workforce management, identify opportunities for enhanced operational efficiencies, including but not limited to utilization of shared services hub, technology/AI initiatives, enhancement of infrastructure.
- Lead and build a high performing team to achieve business objectives by setting clear targets, fostering collaboration, and providing the necessary resources and support:

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with relevant industry qualifications. Required.
- 15+ years of life underwriting experience or equivalent in insurance or reinsurance companies. Required.
- Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting policies, procedures and guidelines for dealing with risk analysis.Required.
- Advanced knowledge of medical, financial and legal aspects as applicable to evaluation of life reinsurance risks. Required.
- Solid High Net Worth Operations/case management experience. Required.
- Professional qualifications (FLMI, ANZIIF, CII or ALU). Preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Required.
- Self-motivated, independent and team player. Required.
- Strong influencing and problem-solving skills – an innovative thinker and a solution driven individual. Required.
- Strong ability to foster a teamwork and customer service focused environment with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines. Required.
