A Brief Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, HNW Underwriting, the Associate Underwriting Director/ Underwriting Director assumes responsibility for the risk selection in order to meet departmental objectives.
What you will do
UW Case handling in accordance with RGA standards, philosophy, and guidelines
Contribute to and/ or conduct client meetings, trainings, audits, forums, seminar, and other events with internal or external clients.
Provide on-site underwriting support for cases when necessary
Render prompt, efficient and courteous services to clients and ensure timely and quality service standards are met
Communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders like pricing, business development, administration, claims, traditional/regional/global underwriting, medical team etc.
Contribute to develop new underwriting philosophy, guidelines, and process improvements
Review and provide inputs to product design, policy provisions, treaties, business development proposals and underwriting guidelines, initiatives, campaigns, and related requests in a timely manner in order to help develop business
Participate in Digital UW, data analytic and other projects, if require
Contribute to internal risk management, operational initiatives and special projects (e.g. data retention, underwriting systems, Facultative Reconciliation, GUM, UW Procedural Manual)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent experience required
10+ Years life underwriting experience with 5 years in high net worth, preferably with reinsurance experience required
Strong foundation and understanding of underwriting philosophy required
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to manage difficult conversations required
Flexibility to handle diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment. required
Strong decision maker with innovative problem-solving ability required
Advanced oral and written communication skills in English required
Self-disciplined with ability to work autonomously required
Computer literate and proficiency in Microsoft Office including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Power Point, etc. required
Creative, flexible, self-motivated, and responsive required
Must be an “out of the box” thinker required
Works effectively both independently and in a team setting required
Highly adaptable to a rapidly changing environment required
Client focused (both external and internal) required
