Job Duties
- Install, repair, maintain and calibrate indicating, recording, and controlling pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control process variables, such as pressure, flow, level, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition using hand tools and precision instruments.
- Disassemble malfunctioning instruments, examine and test mechanism and circuitry for defects.
- Troubleshoot equipment in or out of control loops and replace or repair defective parts.
- Reassemble instrument, test and calibrate assembly for conformance with specifications using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, manometers, smart communicators and pressure instruments.
- Inspect instruments periodically and make minor calibration adjustments to assure they are functioning within specified controlled variables.
- Repair control valves and positioners and troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical control systems
- Perform shutdown testing on all types of instrumentation switches and controls as identified in Shutdown Procedures.
- Test, troubleshoot, repair or replace, calibrate, and reinstall electrical and electronic instrumentation and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Operate testing equipment and interpret test results.
- Identify process flow and location of pneumatic and electronic instrumentation using P&ID and Loop Sheets to troubleshoot instrumentation problems.
- Terminate wiring in control room and junction box and connect electronic device to the instrumentation.
- Install pneumatic or process piping/tubing to the instrumentation.
Other duties may include some or all of the following:
- Report any incidents in timely manner and identify potential environmental problems and take action to prevent incidents.
- Identify and communicate any unsafe conditions to the supervisor, ensure all work and operations are in accordance with safety policies and procedures, participate or delegate participation with monthly safety audits as required and ensure monthly safety equipment audits are completed and returned to the supervisor.
- Conduct pipefitting, truck driving,, forklift, , manlift, and in general any other duties required to support and contribute to an efficient maintenance organization.
- Maintain and repair process instruments (level, pressure, flow, temperature, etc.), control systems, analyzers and electrical power systems in the refinery such as process control and environmental. control analyzers, interlock, permissive, electrical light, power and motor control systems.
- Order equipment and supplies.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from
time-to-time is their sole and complete discretion.
TESTING REQUIREMENT: All candidates must complete a Safety and Craft Specific Test at Tulsa Technology Center to be considered for this position.
