UNCOMN is seeking a Data Engineer 3 (Mid-Level, Enterprise Standards) to:
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data integration patterns, standards, and best practices that enable secure, scalable, and interoperable data exchange across operational and cybersecurity environments.
  • Define and document enterprise integration methodologies, including real-time, batch, streaming, and file-based data exchange approaches.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise standards for data ingestion, integration, interoperability, formatting, metadata, and governance to ensure consistency and reuse across data products and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain metadata standards, data dictionaries, schema definitions, tagging requirements, and implementation guidance that improve data quality, discoverability, and interoperability.
  • Establish common data models and ensure alignment with Department of War schemas, metadata requirements, and enterprise interoperability standards.
  • Develop and maintain visualization standards and governance that promote consistency, accessibility, usability, and effective communication across dashboards, reports, and analytical products.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, cybersecurity personnel, and stakeholders to translate mission requirements into enterprise data standards, integration strategies, and governance solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards artifacts, integration catalogs, and implementation guidance supporting enterprise data management and interoperability initiatives.
This position description outlines the core duties for this role, but it is not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may shift based on contract requirements, mission needs, or organizational objectives. 
 
Requirements
  • Active Secret clearance (or higher) required.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, systems integration, data management, metadata management, business intelligence, or enterprise data governance.
  • Experience developing enterprise data integration, governance, and interoperability solutions using modern data exchange architectures (e.g., real-time, batch, streaming, file-based, or API-driven).
  • Experience developing data standards, metadata frameworks, schema definitions, governance artifacts, and technical documentation that support enterprise data quality, discoverability, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with enterprise data visualization, reporting standards, and dashboard design best practices.
  • Proficiency with three (3) or more of the following: SQL, Python, Spark, Databricks, Palantir Foundry/MSS, Advana, Qlik, Kibana, Tableau, Power BI, Collibra, AWS Glue, Unity Catalog, REST APIs, or similar enterprise data technologies.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate stakeholder requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ability to work on-site in support of USTRANSCOM mission requirements with minimal exceptions and obtain additional certifications as required. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Combatant Command, transportation, logistics, or other federal mission environments.
  • Experience with enterprise data cataloging, metadata repositories, data lineage, governance tools, or master data management.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity data environments, SIEM platforms, security analytics, log management, or operational monitoring.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture, data governance frameworks, interoperability standards, or large-scale data modernization initiatives.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based data platforms, enterprise analytics environments, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Security+, AWS, Azure, Databricks, Tableau, Qlik, CDMP, or comparable technical certifications.

Pay Range: $88,500 - $110,000 per year
