Vendor Quality Inspector (Casegoods)

*Travel: You will primarily work onsite at our factory for the majority of the week (5 days), with occasional office-based responsibilities as needed
*We cover transportation to our vendors!
*This is a one-year contract position with the potential to transition to full-time, though it is not guaranteed.
What You’ll Do:
- Verify materials and construction meet Article’s specifications and supplier guidelines.
- Perform inline inspections per Article’s requirements.
- Inspect raw materials (wood, upholstery, hardware) and review material certification and test reports.
- Check assembly, ensuring joints, fastenings, and components meet quality standards.
- Inspect finished products, documenting defects in workmanship, functionality, stability, and structure.
- Conduct strength, durability, and safety tests to ensure quality compliance.
- Report quality issues to production teams for corrective action.
- Provide feedback to improve manufacturing processes and prevent recurring defects.
- Report to the Vendor Quality Lead, adhering to quality processes.
- Report any health and safety concerns observed at the supplier’s factory.
Who You Are:
- Strong knowledge of furniture materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience in inspection, testing, quality control, or quality audits.
- Sharp attention to detail with the ability to spot even minor imperfections.
- High discipline in following quality standards, product specifications, and maintaining accurate inspection/testing records.
- Solid quality-first mindset and understanding of how product quality impacts brand reputation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and suggest improvements (CAPA experience is a bonus).
- Ability to transfer knowledge and train others on inspection techniques and process controls.
- Post-secondary or bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of quality control or related experience, preferably in the furniture industry.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to convey quality findings to cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with G Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, or similar software tools.
