·       Full time fixed term contract available until December 2026

·       Base Salary starting from $ 121,054+ 17% superannuation 


About the opportunity

The Sydney Pharmacy School is internationally recognised as a leader in pharmacy research and education. Our academics drive innovation across medication management, patient care, and health policy. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from medication management to co-design, as well as from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.  

We are seeking to employ Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team during an exciting transition period. You will play a key role in cannabinoid drug discovery and development in the area of ageing biology. The applicant will have extensive experience in preclinical nematode models, as well as cellular models of senescence and work within the team at the Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics, which is a translational research program aiming to unlock the medicinal potential of cannabis and the cannabinoids.

The successful candidate will join a strong team of pharmacy academics and work with academics and researchers from across the Faculty of Medicine and Health, within the health sector and also across the University of Sydney multidisciplinary initiatives.
This is your chance to make a meaningful contribution to teaching and learning, develop your research portfolio under the guidance of senior academics, and collaborate with experts across the Faculty of Medicine and Health.


Your key responsibilities will be to:

-Conduct research, scholarly or professional activity, independently or as part of a team, contributing to discipline knowledge in the area of ageing biology and drug discovery

-Develop and refine independent research skills under the supervision of more senior academic staff

-Provide informal mentoring and advice to students within discipline

-Carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school meetings

-Contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled

-Understand and contribute to furthering the university and faculty/school strategic agenda

-Undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required.

 

About you:

 

Qualifications-

·       A completed (or near-completed) PhD in a relevant discipline

·       Demonstrated specialist knowledge aligned to the research area

 Research Capability-

·       Evidence of high-quality research potential, including:

o   Publications (e.g., peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, or submitted work).

o   A clear research track record appropriate to career stage

·       Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and/or collaborative research


 Research Outputs & Impact-

·       Emerging track record of research outputs relative to opportunity.

·       Capacity to contribute to grant applications and research funding activities

Communication Skills-

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Ability to present research findings clearly to academic and/or professional audiences

Collaboration & Teamwork-

·       Ability to work effectively in a research team environment.

·       Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration

Organisational & Time Management Skills-

·       Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

·       Strong planning and organisational capability

 Academic Contribution & Engagement-

·       Capacity to contribute to the research profile of the department/institution.

·       Willingness to participate in academic activities (seminars, workshops, research groups)

Professional Conduct-

·       Demonstrated commitment to research integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
