
Power Business Development Manager (Based in Vietnam)
Job Description
Purpose of this Position
Moxa Vietnam seeks a Power Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive the growth of our power sector business across Vietnam. This role requires deep expertise in the Vietnamese energy and power ecosystem, including established relationships with key players such as Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its subsidiaries, engineering, procurement, and construction firms, system integrators (SIs), and renewable energy developers. The BDM will leverage Moxa’s total solutions to address the unique challenges of modernizing the national grid while expanding our market presence through strategic partnerships and key account development.
Key objectives for this position include:
1. Power Sector Business Development Plan
· Develop and execute a comprehensive business development plan to penetrate the Vietnamese power industry. Focus on critical applications such as Substation Automation (IEC 61850), Grid Modernization, Distribution Management Systems (DMS), and Renewable Energy integration (Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage Systems).
2. Ecosystem Relationship Building
· Leverage existing connections and cultivate new relationships with decision-makers at EVN (and its regional subsidiaries) and its key technology partners.
· Collaborate with local energy associations, government regulatory bodies, and industry media to position Moxa as a trusted technology partner for Vietnam’s energy transition.
3. Business Development & Revenue Growth
· Familiar with Moxa’s power-grade networking and computing products (e.g., IEC 61850-3 certified switches) and drive design-win strategies to embed Moxa solutions into national grid projects and large-scale energy infrastructure.
· Utilize Moxa’s Sales Management Excellence (SME) framework to forecast pipeline accurately and achieve assigned revenue targets for the Vietnam power market.
4. Cooperation with Product and Technical Team
· Work closely with Moxa’s R&D, Global Power Business Unit, and technical teams to tailor solutions for local grid requirements.
· Partner with Field Application Engineers (FAEs) to deliver high-level technical presentations, Proof-of-Concepts (PoC), and joint technical proposals for complex power projects.
5. Market Intelligence & Marketing Activity
· Monitor and analyze trends in the Vietnamese power sector, including energy policy implementation, competitor activity, and evolving regulatory requirements.
· Identify customer pain points related to grid reliability and cybersecurity to inform future product positioning and marketing campaigns.
Major Areas of Responsibility
· Power Business Plan: Lead the team to develop a strategic business plan for the Vietnam power market and conduct regular reviews to adapt to changing energy policies.
· Power Business Target: Responsible for the Vietnam power business segment and ensure the achievement of defined business/sales targets.
· Sales Management Excellence (SME): Familiar with SME methodologies and ensure all sales processes are aligned with SME standards to achieve business objectives.
· Account Development: Identify key target accounts within the power utility sector (EVN/NPT/PCs) and renewable energy developers; leverage local and HQ resources to secure design-wins.
· Account Plan: Select strategic key accounts from the power sector and present comprehensive account plans in SME contests following official guidelines.
· Marketing: Work with the marketing team, FAEs, and MHQ (Moxa HQ) to develop power-specific marketing plans and programs tailored to the Vietnam market.
*This role will work mianly in your home office.
Minimum Job Requirements
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Business Management, or equivalent work experience.
· Experience:
o 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or technical roles within the Power or Energy industry.
o Proven track record of driving revenue growth in the Vietnamese power infrastructure or utility market.
· Industry Network:
o Established relationships with EVN (and its subsidiaries) or Power System Integrators in Vietnam.
o Familiarity with power utility operations, substation automation, or renewable energy project lifecycles.
· Technical Skills:
o Understanding of industrial networking (e.g., IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus) and their applications in power utility environments.
o Ability to translate complex technical grid requirements into viable business solutions.
· Mindset: Entrepreneurial drive, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate complex, long-cycle sales processes in the public and private energy sectors.
· Office Applications
o Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
· Language:
o Fluency in Vietnamese and English (Chinese will be a plus).
