This includes managing the facility’s Radiation Protection Program elements such as Operational Readiness Reviews (ORRs), startup activities, occupational exposure, and contamination control; conducting management walkthroughs and surveillances; contributing to occurrence reports; and preparing formal responses to audits and assessments.
• Represent the RP Department on radiological control matters both internally and externally, communicating facility positions to oversight and planning groups.
• Support effective resource planning by developing and managing the facility’s business planning systems and coordinating manpower needs through daily and weekly planning meetings with Line Management.
• Enhance the quality of the facility’s Radiation Protection Program by overseeing training and qualification programs for Radiological Protection Inspectors and First Line Managers; approving OJT qualifications; reviewing and approving facility specific training materials; participating in Training Review Committees; identifying program improvement opportunities; implementing improvement processes; and evaluating facility radiological events to share lessons learned.
• Provide leadership to promote a strong safety culture and total quality environment by enforcing safety meeting attendance, reinforcing good work practices, emphasizing on and off the job safety, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting improvement initiatives.
• Support personnel management by ensuring compliance with site HR policies; addressing employee concerns, issues, and performance matters; and promoting professional development through training, coaching, and counseling.
