Ensures that waste generated meets the waste acceptance criteria of the receiving facility. Provides guidance to facility management on complex waste handling issues. Stops generating activities if significant non-compliance actions occur. Develop waste reduction strategies for waste facilities; analyze each facility's generation rate to identify areas to target for waste reduction. Utilizing facility experience, develop a strategy to meet the goal. Evaluates tasks for waste reduction opportunities. Develop and implement self-assessment techniques for waste reduction programs for each waste type. Develop strategy for each facility to assess their program and progress toward meeting the pollution prevention/waste minimization goals. This strategy must focus on the site's waste minimization goals. Responsible for addressing internal and external assessment/audit teams on the validity of the assessment and the status of each facility. Develop and analyze waste generation rates for waste facilities; provide as estimate for the volume of waste to be generated in waste facilities prior to division assigning a goal that could be unachievable for waste facilities. Estimate needs to include routing activities as well as non-routine/infrequent activities. Provide interface for Site Level initiatives for waste facilities; implement a program to recycle used oils, scrap metals, paper, aluminum cans, etc. Dedicated attention that properly addresses the needs and differences for each initiative to be successfully implemented and maintained. Directs the efforts of waste handling personnel. Support the Shipping Specialist(s) with general transportation functions.
