
Deputy Director
Job Description
Essential Duties
- Directs the activities of multiple Financial Services divisions to ensure efficient operations, exceptional customer service, and achievement of departmental objectives.
- Provides oversight of the County's financial management systems, internal controls, and processes to safeguard public funds and maintain data integrity.
- Oversees the preparation and review of financial statements, regulatory filings, audit schedules, budget reports, and other complex financial analyses.
- Provides leadership and oversight to management and professional staff, including assigning work, evaluating performance, developing employees, and making personnel recommendations.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and County policies.
- Analyzes complex financial and operational data to identify trends, evaluate fiscal impacts, and support strategic decision-making.
- Develops, implements, and monitors financial policies, procedures, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
- Collaborates with County leadership, elected officials, external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies on financial and operational matters.
- Leads initiatives that promote fiscal stewardship, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and effective service delivery across the organization.
- Reporting to County Administration leadership, departments, and community partners, as needed.
- Periodic presentation of divisional updates
- Department staff meeting presentations and training.
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
The grade for this position is 306. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field AND
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, including two years at the Division Director level;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Master's degree in accounting, Finance, business administration, or a closely related field AND
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Public Finance Officer
