Job Description
The Food Services Supervisor will be overseeing the congregate meal program operations, preparation, and distribution, and serving to elevate and ensure consistency in meal services and quality as this program expands. This position will be responsible for an advanced level of program oversight, including monitoring, development, and stewardship of the program with state and local regulations and requirements. The role will support the Health and Human Services division in its mandatory food safety/handling with current federal/state/local funding and compliance as it relates to ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for health-related policy and inspections.

Essential Duties
  • Directly supervising and training designated kitchen team members (full-time and part-time) in the commercial kitchen
  •  Providing hands-on training for cooks, including food preparation and batch cooking, driving, and overseeing operations at multiple sites
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the congregate food service area in the commercial kitchen, including tracking temperatures and developing food usage sheets for cooks
  • Developing and preparing reports related to costs and expenses for training and other operating needs
  • Monitoring inventory of senior kitchen supplies by developing inventory reports and ordering supplies
  • Ensuring a safe and sanitary environment and assisting in kitchen readiness and compliance for routine health inspections
  • Overseeing the maintenance and proper operation of all food service equipment
  • Visiting senior centers to conduct quality assurance and compliance 
  • Partnering with the leadership to provide coaching, support, and guidance on employee performance and program needs
  • Continuing to enhance the congregate meal program with the development of new menus, new recipes, and additional services at the senior centers 
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job requires fingerprinting. 
Grade
The grade for this position is B21(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
 
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED AND
  • Three years of experience as a cook OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license
  • Food Services Training Certificate (must be obtained within 12 months of employment)
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Two years of experience in culinary food preparation and commercial kitchen operational experience
  • ServSafe certification current, or obtained within the first six months of employment
  • CPR/First Aid certified, or obtained within the first six months of employment
