[What the role is]
This is a 2-year contract position as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Emotional Intelligence & Global Citizenship in the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary studies.[What you will be working on]
We are looking for an educator-facilitator who believes that developing the inner world of young people is an important part of preparing them for the outer world.
This role sits at the intersection of emotional intelligence, interpersonal communication and global perspectives. You will design and facilitate learning experiences that help young people better understand themselves, relate meaningfully to others, and think critically about the role they play in the world as agents of change. As a facilitator of learning, you will guide students to discover their purpose and values, explore diverse perspectives on global issues, and translate their learning into meaningful community action.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Facilitate engaging learning experiences for youths and adult learners focused on:
Emotional Intelligence and Self-awareness
Interpersonal Communication and Collaboration
Creativity and Problem Solving
Critical Thinking and Global Awareness
Mentor youths (typically aged 16–20) through guided reflection, dialogue, experiential and project-based learning
Design and facilitate learning experiences that connect classroom inquiry to real-world contexts, including community-based projects, civic dialogue or applied problem-solving
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to continuously refine curriculum and learning experiences
Provide pastoral care and holistic support for student development
Able to teach at least one evening or weekends in the week
Manage administrative work related to teaching and assigned projects
Take on leadership roles in module delivery or project teams, , including study trips where required
Undertake academic‑related administration, committee work, outreach activities, and ad‑hoc projects that support the School’s mission
[What we are looking for]
A relevant tertiary qualification, with at least 3 years of teaching and/or industry experience in Arts & Humanities, Business, Design, or related fields
A strong belief in holistic education and the development of human skills, including emotional intelligence, communication, creative and critical thinking
Experience in mentoring, coaching or working with youths
Strong facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to design and facilitate engaging, interactive and reflective learning experiences
Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
A reflective practitioner who is open to learning, experimenting, and growing
It would be an advantage if you have:
Training or experience in areas such as emotional intelligence, youth development and/or global education
Experience in facilitating civic dialogue or leading community-based learning projects
