Position Summary

A growing investment management firm focused on alternative assets is seeking a proactive and resourceful Assistant Controller to support its accounting and finance operations. This individual will play a key role in financial reporting, fund accounting oversight, compliance, and operational initiatives across the organization.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role offers significant exposure to investment accounting, fund operations, executive leadership, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and review of quarterly and annual fund financial statements, including support of the annual audit process.

  • Coordinate with external service providers and review fund accounting activities, including net asset value calculations, capital transactions, investor allocations, and financial reporting.

  • Support technical accounting matters related to investment entities and complex organizational structures.

  • Assist in the coordination and review of annual tax filings and compliance requirements with external advisors.

  • Monitor cash positions, support liquidity management activities, and assist with forecasting and financial analysis.

  • Respond to investor information requests and participate in special projects as needed.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the implementation of internal controls and operational efficiencies.

  • Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives, system implementations, new investment structures, and other growth-related projects.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.

  • 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting, investment management, private equity, fund accounting, financial services, or a related industry.

  • CPA designation preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and investment or partnership accounting principles.

  • Familiarity with financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements applicable to investment entities.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Experience with accounting, reporting, or portfolio management systems is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality work.
