Lead Engineer – Testing & Validation
Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Lead Engineer is responsible for conducting testing of polymer products as per assigned requirements, ensuring timely completion, accuracy and integrity of test data, and preparation of comprehensive test reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently perform mechanical (UTM, Impact, MFI, HDT/VST) and thermal characterization (DSC, TGA) along with spectroscopic analysis (UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, FTIR) testing, including advanced data analysis using complex methodologies and techniques.
Ensure effective implementation and sustenance of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements within the laboratory.
Support technical report preparation, documentation, and compliance records.
Conduct quality control (QC) activities and product benchmarking.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CFTs) on assigned projects to drive timely and quality deliverables.
Hands-on experience in acoustics testing will be considered an added advantage.
Take complete ownership of assigned laboratory equipment, ensuring reliable and efficient operation through:
Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Compliance with latest testing standards, norms, and regulatory requirements
Development of new testing methods as required
Maintenance of critical spare parts inventory
Execution of calibration activities as per schedule
Planning and execution of annual preventive maintenance (PM)
Monitoring daily logbooks and equipment utilization
Updating and maintaining equipment history cards
Perform repeat/replicate testing and validation checks as required.
Conduct intermediate checks, including Standard Reference Material (SRM) testing, to maintain testing accuracy and reliability.
Drive 6S implementation and sustenance within assigned laboratory areas, ensuring high standards of organization, safety, and efficiency.
Take ownership of designated lab zones, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance with internal standards
Requirement:
Master’s degree in disciplines related to Polymer Engineering/Science, Plastic Technology
3-5 years of industry experience preferred
Experience in testing mechanical & thermal properties of polymers
Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills – both written and verbal
Proven ability to build effective cross functional working relationships.
