With a staff of 950+ and an annual budget of $140 million, Project Renewal is one of the larger social service nonprofits in New York City.   Title: Registered Nurse Location: 59th Street Shelter Salary: 98k-100k Shift: Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm   Overview: RNs provide on-site nursing services under the direction of the Nurse Manager for Shelter & Primary Care.    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:      The essential duties of the RN include but are not limited to the following activities:  Participate in weekly clinical meetings with medical staff, shelter case management, & administrative staff Perform intakes on all new clients assigned to the shelter for referral and to connect to care at our primary care sites, mental health, & psychiatry services Liaison to connect clients with drug user health services, PREP/PEP, & HIV care management if needed Case management for high-risk clients coordinating care for priority medical needs Assist with prior authorization for medications or medical supplies Assisting with medication refills and attaining new prescriptions Oversight of medication systems, Medication Self-Administration records (MSAR) for clients who self-administer their medications in shelter, including: Assisting clients with pill-packing of their medications Ensuring safe storage of medications Ensuring clients have appropriate supplies and access to medications Monitoring client reactions for side effects and reporting to prescribing provider Maintain records of controlled substances using controlled substance logs Education on medication adherence Fulfill patient specific orders designated by the medical provider Oversight of LPN and coverage as needed for tasks including: Obtaining vital signs Administering medications, injections, and treatments as ordered by medical providers Ordering stock medications, immunizations, and other medical supplies as needed Provide nursing screenings and documentation using nursing templates Perform ordered procedures including, but not limited to, EKG’s, Hearing and Vision tests, Blood Glucose, specimen collection and processing etc. Maintain emergency equipment, AED, oxygen tanks, and other clinical equipment Monitor medication expiration dates Discard discontinued or expired medication Record refrigerator and freezer temperatures using designated datalogger Report on refrigerator excursions or warning alerts Travel to cover locations if needed for coverage Other duties as assigned Qualifications: New York State licensed RN Working with homeless individuals preferred Must have excellent oral and listening skills Must have the ability to interface with clients as well as all levels of staff Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel Comfort with electronic medical record documentation required, with knowledge of eClinicalWorks a plus   Project Renewal is an equal opportunity employer.  Its long-standing policy has been to embrace the equality of opportunity for all employees and applicants without regard to actual or perceived race, color, national origin, alienage or citizenship status, religion or creed, gender (see separately issued Gender Discrimination policy for more detail), physical or mental disability, age (18 and over), military status, arrest record, marital status, domestic partnership status, genetic information or predisposing genetic characteristic, sexual orientation, status as a victim or witness of domestic violence, sex offenses or stalking, unemployment status or any other basis protected by applicable federal, state and local laws.
