Title: Medical Assistant
Program:Primary Care Clinic
Schedule: Full-time 35 hours/week. Monday - Friday
Location: Mobile Medical Van covering multiple sites across New York City
Salary: $42,000
Position Overview:Medical assistants are embedded in Primary Care Clinics to provide on-site nursing services under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing, Primary Care, and the Deputy/ Director of Nursing Operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The essential duties of the Medical Assistant include but are not limited to the following activities:
Responsible for obtaining vital signs including pain screen and BMI
Perform procedures including, but not limited to, EKG’s, Hearing and Vision tests, Blood Glucose, etc.
Assist providers with examinations and chaperoning
Perform phlebotomy, lab specimen and CLIA Waive testing processing
Prepare and organize supplies in examination rooms. This includes preparingexamination table, ensuring that supplies are maintained in an organized manner in cabinets, and ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available for practitioner’s use
Conducts template screenings on all patients (depression screening, sexual health, alcohol, drug, tobacco screenings
Participates in weekly clinical meetings with medical staff and with shelter casemanagement & administrative staff
Travel to cover locations as necessary for coverage
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Medical Assistant Certification
Working with homeless individuals preferred
Must have excellent oral and listening skills
Must have the ability to interface with clients as well as all levels of staff
Knowledge Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel preferred
Electronic medical record experience preferred
