Position Title - Deputy Manager- Service Quality Assurance

Department - Service Centre

Reporting To - Head – Rebuild Centre

Location - Service Centre, CoE Jaipur

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving the quality management system for the rebuild and remanufacturing operations of heavy mining and underground equipment. The role ensures that all rebuilt machines, components, and assemblies meet defined OEM standards, customer expectations, safety requirements, and reliability targets before dispatch.

The position plays a critical role in driving process discipline, inspection standards, root cause analysis, warranty reduction, continuous improvement, and customer confidence in rebuild quality.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) procedures for rebuild and remanufacturing activities.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, OEM rebuild specifications, and internal quality procedures.

  • Establish quality checkpoints across dismantling, inspection, refurbishment, assembly, testing, painting, and final dispatch stages.

  • Monitor adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and technical specifications.

Inspection & Quality Control

  • Define inspection criteria and acceptance standards for rebuilt machines and components.

  • Lead dimensional inspections, tolerance verification, hydraulic testing, functional testing, and performance validation.

  • Approve quality documentation, inspection reports, and rebuild release certifications.

  • Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection and measuring instruments.

  • Oversee incoming inspection of reusable and replacement parts.

Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions

  • Lead failure investigations, warranty analysis, and non-conformance management.

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using methodologies such as:

    • 5 Why Analysis

    • Fishbone Diagram

    • FMEA

    • CAPA

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring quality issues.

  • Track quality KPIs and drive improvement initiatives.

Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Coordinate customer inspections, audits, and technical discussions related to rebuild quality.

  • Handle customer complaints and ensure timely closure of quality concerns.

  • Evaluate supplier quality performance for outsourced refurbishment and component repairs.

  • Support development of approved vendor quality standards.

Process Improvement & Reliability

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance rebuild reliability and operational life.

  • Support standardization of rebuild processes and component refurbishment methodology.

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams for process optimization.

  • Promote Lean, Six Sigma, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor quality inspectors and QA/QC personnel.

  • Conduct quality awareness and technical training programs for shop floor teams.

  • Foster a culture of quality ownership, safety, and accountability.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • First Pass Yield (FPY)

  • Warranty claim reduction

  • Rework percentage

  • Customer complaint closure time

  • Audit compliance score

  • On-time quality release

  • Testing and inspection compliance rate

  • Supplier quality performance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.

  • Certification in Quality Management Systems or Six Sigma preferred.

  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor certification desirable.

Experience Required

10–12 years of experience in quality assurance within:

  • Heavy equipment

  • Mining machinery

  • Underground equipment

  • Remanufacturing / rebuild operations

  • Hydraulic and mechanical systems

  • Strong hands-on experience in inspection, testing, and rebuild quality control.

  • Experience handling customer audits and warranty investigations preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, drivetrain, and structural systems.

  • Understanding of rebuild methodologies and component life assessment.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings, tolerances, and technical manuals.

  • Familiarity with NDT techniques and testing procedures.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and quality documentation tools.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and reporting systems.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with experience in underground mining equipment, construction equipment, heavy machinery rebuilds, or remanufacturing facilities will be preferred.
