Animal Welfare Technician

Do you want a career where your skills and passion will make a direct impact in the local community of Wake County? Our Animal Center is recruiting for a full-time Animal Welfare Technician. Animal Welfare Technicians (AWTs) perform all intake evaluations, vaccines, pathway planning, and paperwork for all incoming animals. The AWTs are often the first person to handle each incoming animal and should be well versed in animal behavior in order to prevent bites/scratches to themselves or teammates. Each AWT is expected to become proficient in vaccinations, humane animal restraint, and providing accurate vaccine records for each animal. While performing intake procedures, the AWT staff are responsible for noting any behavioral or medical abnormalities and relaying this information to the veterinary team.
