Job Description
Behavior Special Education Teacher / BAC Classroom Lead
Kidwell Elementary is seeking a dedicated, student-centered professional to serve as our Behavior Special Education Teacher and BAC Classroom Lead. This individual will play a critical role in supporting students with significant behavioral needs while helping create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for all students and staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the case manager and primary support for students with Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Oversee and manage the BAC classroom and ensure implementation of individualized behavior supports
- Implement BIPs with fidelity and provide ongoing behavior intervention support
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, counselors, administrators, and families to support student success
- Provide coaching and strategies to staff regarding behavior management and de-escalation techniques
- Lead the campus Crisis Response Team
- Supervise, support, and lead paraprofessionals assigned to the crisis response/support team to ensure they are trained, prepared, and implementing behavior supports appropriately
- Serve as the first responder for aggressive or escalated student behaviors on campus
- Maintain accurate documentation and data related to behavior interventions and student progress
- Support the development of proactive, positive behavior systems campus-wide
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with students exhibiting significant behavioral challenges preferred
- Strong knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and crisis prevention techniques
- Handle With Care training preferred, or willingness to complete required training
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused in high-stress situations
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Must be physically capable of responding safely and appropriately during crisis situations, including aggressive behaviors when necessary
