We're looking for someone to join our team as an Associate Director-Nursing who:
The Associate Director of Nursing (ADON), under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Clinical Services, is responsible for the overall compliance and clinical practice of nurses and medical assistants. This position collaborates with multiple departments and programs to ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care. The ADON serves as a leader and utilizes critical thinking skills when developing and reviewing policies, clinical processes, and procedures. The ADON also directly supervises the Lab Specialist, Immunization Specialist, Clinical Educator and EWC Coordinator as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Providing clinical guidance to nurses and medical assistants (MAs).
- Scheduling training for the nurses and MAs.
- Reviewing and revising clinical policies, annually and as needed.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring nurses and medical assistants.
- Working with the Clinical Educator, develop and update competencies for clinical staff.
- Monitoring performance and oversite of newly hired staff.
- Responding to clinical issues in a timely manner.
- Collaboration with medical providers to ensure safe, high-quality care.
- Work with the Practice Manager/Program Supervisors to ensure the clinic sites are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Demonstrate the ability to evaluate information by utilizing superior communication and critical thinking skills.
- Collaboration with the Practice Managers, Program Supervisors, Infection Control Specialist and Associate Director of Clinics.
- Lead and manage the performance of their direct reports.
- Contributes to the organization’s quality improvement projects and population health initiatives.
- Approval of medical supplies.
Other Responsibilities:
- Clinical Audits of sites to include, but limited to, chart audits and management of logs.
- Providing direct patient care as needed.
- Reviewing incident reports and developing corrective action plans.
- Addressing incident reports and developing follow-up plans.
- Liaison and coordination with governmental programs, such as, but limited to, California Department of Public Health and Kern County Public Health Department.
- Strong Leadership Skills.
- Assist in supporting regional leadership teams.
- Act as the point of contact between the Senior Leadership Team and internal/external clients.
- Undertake the tasks of receiving calls, take messages and routing correspondence.
- Involvement of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA).
- Attend Committee meetings (QIC, Infection Prevention)
- Perform introductory and annual employee reviews, competency forms, and provide constructive feedback on their performance to help meet organizational and professional goals.
- Reasonable and predictable in person attendance.
You'll be successful with the following qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing program.
- ADN or BSN required (MSN preferred Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Current, active CA license as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 5 years’ nursing experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role.
- Possess a special sensitivity to providing care to an underserved population.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) an asset
