Job Description

What's the role?

As a Financial & Planning Analysis Manager you will analyze existing operational and cost data to identify current cost drivers and underlying costs for the services to be re-procured, providing a cost model that can support scenario analysis. The model will need to identify the risks, issues and opportunities across various scenarios. You will also partner with and build strong relationships with team members across the organization at all levels; support cross-functionally with problem solving and analysis for department leaders to effectively run their functions. Own, improve, and enhance financial and operational models, reporting, and analysis; example scope includes company forecast model, commission modeling, new client and product introductions, and productivity improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Produce analyses and interpret monthly financial performance reports for divisional management (working in conjunction with the Finance Team), adding business/division specific insights to support reporting and decision-making.
  • Build, maintain and calibrate business models to facilitate effective planning, analysis and decision making throughout the organization.
  • Identify key financial drivers and assumptions within a business process, structure the identified drivers to tell a story, and develop a financial model to be used for planning purposes.
  • Aggregate and organize financial data from multiple platforms and systems; suggest procedural changes to increase the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency of models and reports used or produced by the team.
  • Jointly undertake financial review and performance management of the divisions, and identifies any variances/ discrepancies, working closely with Finance Management and Finance Partners.
  • Analyze and review financial and business information effectively and derive useful insights to develop knowledge and decision-making skills.
  • Provide required information and appropriate input for restructuring and other business cases.
  • Build and develop effective working relationships with business unit staff and other users, particularly finance colleagues in the Finance Department.
  • The management retains the discretion to add or change duties of position as needed.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, planning and prioritizing own work to achieve objectives within a short to medium term timeframe; likely to direct and coordinate the daily workflow of more junior staff.
  • Keep up to date with company and external policies, guidelines, legislative and regulatory requirements, to maintain compliance in their role and minimize the company exposure to risk, including the handling of confidential and critical information.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement/efficiencies in finance processes and for strengthening internal controls.
  • Demonstrates and ensures compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, all Liberty Latin America's policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures
  • Other functions may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises a group of employees in the Finance Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What do you need?

Education and/or Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related quantitative subject area. CPA preferred.

6-9 years of experience in financial analysis managerial position with budgeting experience.

Extensive Excel modeling experience within the financial services industry and a thought framework grounded in economic theory, with the ability to identify financial drivers and assumptions within a business process.


Other Qualifications:

  • Substantial experience in the design and development of sophisticated financial and commercial models, with the ability to clearly articulate underlying operational costs through a supply chain.
  • Knowledge of computer operations, including MS Office package and HFM (Hyperion) package
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Strong modeling background.
  • Knowledge of common accounting procedures; understanding of relevant computer programs proficient in data admittance and management.
  • Computer-literate, knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Outstanding electronic spreadsheet construction skills.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Fully Bilingual (Spanish and English).
