POSITION: DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON, GIFTED AND TALENTED (Current Employees Only)
LOCATION: District-Wide position for the 2026-2027 SY
(May be filled as a Chair or Co-Chair)
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Unique Programs: Equity, Staff and Student Support
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in Gifted and Talented Content Area
- Master's Degree, preferred
- Three or more years successful Gifted and Talented teaching experience preferred
- Experience developing and delivering various professional development i.e., seminars, interactive work sessions, small group, and one on one coaching
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, school administrators and central office staff
- Knowledge of Gifted and Talented best practices in teaching and learning
- Knowledge of Gifted and Talented strategies to increase student engagement
- Knowledge of Gifted and Talented instructional differentiation strategies
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
SALARY: CEA EPER Salary Scale
MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT: July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate commitment to the district vision and mission, by communicating and supporting the instructional focus
- Serve as a model of professionalism
- Collaborate with District Administrators and Instructional/Curriculum Coaches on planning and implementation of various District-wide Gifted and Talented curricular initiatives (K-12)
- Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Administrators to identify annual objectives for the Content area
- Plan and facilitate monthly meetings of Subject Area Teachers in the Content Area to communicate curricular issues and coordinate the implementation of annual objectives.
- Meetings with Teachers must cover district initiatives as they relate to content area:
- Review and analyze District achievement data and identify key strengths and potential opportunities to improve instruction with the implementation of Gifted and Talented
- Identify professional development needs for Gifted and Talented teachers and leaders
- Gather feedback and provide timely input in the review and revision of Gifted and Talented curriculum materials, pacing guides, and instructional materials
- Coordinate the ordering of Gifted and Talented instructional materials and training for Gifted and Talented teachers and leaders district- wide
- Ensure that teachers are aware of Gifted and Talented changes/revisions, and know how to access that information and other instructional materials
- Serve as a member of the Gifted and Talented Core Team
- Serve as a resource for Gifted and Talented teachers who need assistance
- Serve as a resource for new Gifted and Talented teachers who need assistance
- Other duties specific to Gifted and Talented
