Job Description

Purpose of the Role

Industrial sites don't stand still — and neither do the challenges that come with running them. As an OT Consultant within our Consultancy team, you bring operational credibility that no textbook can replicate. You have worked on or around process plants, you understand the weight of a safety case, and you know what it means when production stops. That experience is what earns trust on site — and what makes you effective as a strategic advisor to the industrial clients we serve. You translate hard-won operational insight into actionable OT roadmaps that drive long-term value for some of Europe's most complex industrial organisations.

A Day in Your Life

Your day might begin with a discovery workshop at a refinery, working through the operational pain points a client's team has been unable to articulate. By midday, you are back at your desk translating what you heard into a structured risk and opportunity assessment. In the afternoon, you collaborate with Yokogawa's technical architects on a solution that bridges legacy DCS infrastructure with a modern digital layer — always with safety and operability at the centre. You might close the day reviewing a business case for executive sign-off, drawing on your first-hand understanding of how chemical and process sites actually function under pressure.

Key Challenges

Refinery and chemical plant environments are not just technically complex — they are politically and culturally layered. You will work with operational teams who have seen consultants come and go, and who will test your credibility fast. Navigating that environment requires deep domain fluency, not just communication skill. You will also manage the tension between what is technically possible and what a client's risk appetite and budget will allow — and you will need to help organisations through the difficult work of restructuring operational teams as part of broader transformation programmes.

Growth & Career Opportunities

At Yokogawa, we believe in purposeful career evolution. This role offers a unique vantage point across multiple industries — with a primary focus on refining and chemicals, and growing exposure to energy transition and offshore wind. As you master the SoS consultancy framework, you will find paths into senior strategic advisory roles, regional leadership, or specialised digital transformation management. We support your journey with continuous learning opportunities that reflect our century-long commitment to innovation.

Team & Culture

Our culture in the Netherlands is built on transparency, mutual respect, and a shared drive to contribute to society through industrial precision. You will work alongside technical specialists who are as passionate about sustainable operations as they are about professional excellence.

Who You Are

You have spent meaningful time in or around process operations — a refinery, a chemical plant, or a comparable high-hazard industrial environment. You have lived the reality of process safety, functional safety, and the operational decisions that happen under pressure. You may have moved into consultancy or project delivery, and you are now looking for a role where that background becomes your primary asset. You are commercially aware, comfortable owning client relationships, and able to present a coherent business case to senior stakeholders without losing the operational substance that underpins it.

What You'll Do & What You Bring

→ Serve as a trusted advisor to existing industrial clients — primarily in refining, petrochemicals, and chemicals — supporting their OT and digital transformation journeys.

→ Lead operational assessments and discovery engagements that go beyond surface-level process mapping, drawing on genuine site experience.

→ Develop and present compelling business cases and strategic roadmaps, with safety and risk as integral components — not afterthoughts.

→ Support clients through operational team restructuring as part of broader transformation programmes.

→ Act as the primary link between client business requirements and Yokogawa's technical solution architects.

→ Stay ahead of market trends in industrial autonomy, functional safety, cybersecurity, and energy transition to provide proactive advice.

→ Bring a background in refinery or chemical plant operations — whether as a process engineer, operations lead, or similar role — alongside subsequent experience in consultancy, system integration, or project delivery.

→ Demonstrate a working knowledge of process safety frameworks: HAZOP, SIL assessment, IEC 61511, or equivalent.

→ Show a track record of billable client work — you understand what it means to deliver against a commercial engagement.

→ Bring experience with or exposure to wind or energy transition projects — not essential, but genuinely valued.

→ Demonstrate exceptional Dutch and English communication skills, with the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder organisations.

Why Join Now

The clients we serve are at a genuine inflection point — moving from reactive maintenance and manual intervention toward autonomous, data-driven operations. But the path there runs directly through process safety, legacy infrastructure, and operational culture change. That is exactly where your background becomes decisive. Joining Yokogawa Netherlands B.V. now places you at the centre of that transition, backed by a century of industrial precision and a team that takes the engineering seriously.

What We Offer

We provide a professional environment that respects your expertise and supports your work-life balance. For this full-time position of 40 hours per week, Yokogawa Netherlands B.V. offers a competitive package including:

→ A flexible start time between 07:00 and 09:30 to suit your schedule.

→ 25 days of annual leave plus 6 ATV days, with the option to purchase up to 13 additional days.

→ Financial security through an 8% holiday allowance and a 5% end-of-year allowance.

→ Support for your home office with a daily allowance and a fixed monthly contribution.

→ A comprehensive pension scheme and employer-funded insurance plans.

→ Commuting reimbursement and a structured probation and notice period framework.

Specific salary ranges and the full details of our benefits package will be discussed transparently during the initial recruiter screening. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates who share our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
