Security Guard (Outley House Community Room)
Job Description
Shift: 7a – 3p, 3p – 11p, 11p – 7a
Status: Full Time – Non-Exempt
Reports To: Program Director
Position Summary:
The Security Guard provides our participants with supportive assistance to maintain a safe, welcoming, and clean environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform facility checks before assuming responsibility and note deficiencies during the shift change.
- Responsible for monitoring the electronic surveillance equipment used on the premises
- Alert prior shift to make corrections/ completion of duties before you assume responsibility for the facility.
- Document key incidents (negative or positive) on shift report form being sure to have needed supplies on hand.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to safeguard and maintain of premises.
- Immediately inform Supervisor of any unusual incidents concerning residents, building or staff and complete appropriate documentation.
- Monitor resident activities, searches of resident bedroom, locker and body search with metal detector upon entrance to the facility.
- Review prior shift incident reports and communication log book prior to starting shift work.

Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with a combination of acceptable training and experience in Homeless Shelter, Clean and Sober, Outreach or Addictive Diseases.
Participation in staff meetings, department meetings and training as directed.
Must be well organized, detail-oriented, tasks-driven and able to work independently and set daily priorities.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and willingness to assist whenever needed. Criminal and Child Abuse clearance will be required.
Experience:
Past security experience is strongly desired.
Two years’ experience working in the human services field. Preferably in a residential facility with individuals who may have challenges in the following areas: homelessness, substance abuse and mental health or an acceptable combination of equivalent skills and experience.
