Job Description

Purpose:
To manage and maintain an organized, clean, and accessible clothing closet that provides dignity and choice for shelter residents in need of clothing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sort, fold, and organize donated clothing by size, gender, and type (e.g., shirts, pants, coats, shoes)
  • Ensure donated items are clean, in good condition, and seasonally appropriate
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming closet space
  • Track inventory and alert staff when specific clothing items are in low supply
  • Assist residents in selecting clothing items respectfully and supportively
  • Coordinate with staff on donation needs, pick-ups, and drop-offs
  • Create signage, labels, or simple systems for efficient closet navigation

Qualifications:

  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to lift and move bags/boxes of clothing (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Good interpersonal skills and a nonjudgmental attitude
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care or willingness to learn

Time Commitment:
Flexible shifts; 2–4 hours per week preferred. May include weekday or weekend hours based on shelter needs.
