Job Description:
Forest Lake Area Schools is located on the Northeastern edge of the Twin Cities metro area with approximately 6,500 students, and an annual budget of $100 million. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for this full time, 12-month position.
We are seeking an individual to play a vital role in delivering accurate, compliant, and employee-focused benefits administration. This position coordinates and maintains the benefit program for district employees. Ensures the proper documentation for legal compliance are maintained in employee files and that this information is reflected accurately on the benefit accounting subsystem within the HR Pay finance database system. The Benefit Coordinator works closely with the Payroll Coordinators, Leave Coordinator, Senior Accountant - Benefits, and the Supervisor of Accounting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and administers employee benefit programs in alignment with bargaining unit contracts, ensuring accurate interpretation of contract terms and proper adjustment of employee benefit rates.
• Oversees the completion and processing of employee benefit forms, supporting both new hires and updates to existing employee benefit statuses.
• Maintains accurate employee data within HR and payroll systems, collaborating with internal departments to resolve complex benefit and payroll-related issues.
• Conducts onboarding sessions to educate new employees on available benefits and manages ongoing programs such as flexible benefit plans and voluntary benefit offerings.
• Ensures accurate tracking, reporting, and payment of employee benefits by maintaining databases, auditing systems, and coordinating with Accounts Payable.
• Serves as the primary liaison with third-party benefit providers while developing and maintaining systems for employee deductions, reporting, and continuation of benefits for inactive employees.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements: High school diploma plus good computer skills, Knowledge of benefit accounting systems and bargaining unit/employee contract language. Good communication skills to communicate effectively with employees and administration.
Skill, Knowledge, Abilities:
• Computer skills in Microsoft products, specifically Excel and ability to learn new program applications quickly.
• Perform work assignments requiring attention to detail, precision and accuracy and in accordance with set deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume processing environment, as well as strong verbal and written communications.
Salary & Benefits:
• $25.86-$30.15/hour, 8 hours day, 52 weeks per year
