Reading Interventionist
Job Description
The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving 3,700 students Pre-K through grade 12, seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative professional for the position of Reading Interventionist at North Plainfield Middle School.
Qualifications:
Required: Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate (English Language Arts)
Preferred: Reading Specialist Certification or Reading Endorsement
- Experience with literacy intervention and assessment
- Knowledge of adolescent literacy development and evidence-based reading intervention strategies
- Experience with literacy assessment and data-driven instruction
- Strong organizational, classroom management, and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted reading intervention through individual and small-group instruction for students with identified literacy needs.
- Assess, monitor, and analyze student progress using diagnostic and formative measures to inform instruction.
- Design and implement differentiated, evidence-based lessons addressing phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Observe students in classroom settings and adjust intervention strategies based on academic and behavioral needs.
- Utilize instructional technology and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance literacy instruction.
- Consult frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to reading instruction using our progress-monitoring instruments as a base
- Familiar with the NJTSS process and Tiered instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and intervention outcomes using LinkIt Intervention Manager
- Adhere to all district, state, and federal policies and uphold professional ethical standards.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student achievement and communicate progress.
- Support a positive school environment and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
Ensure continuity of instruction during absences and perform additional duties as assigned.
Salary: $69,630 (minimum) to $103,470 (maximum) commensurate with experience
