RACQ is seeking an experienced Property Assessor to deliver efficient, empathetic and tailored loss assessing services to our members during their time of need. Managing a portfolio of domestic insurance claims, you’ll conduct on‑site and desktop assessments, determine damage and best‑practice repair solutions, and support timely, cost‑effective outcomes.
You’ll work closely with members, builders, investigators and suppliers, while also providing technical advice to the broader claims team. This role is critical to maintaining team capability and RACQ’s industry‑leading claims experience. This is a permanent full-time role based in Meanjin (Brisbane).
What You'll Do
• Conduct on-site and desktop assessments of insured properties to determine damage, cause of loss and explain the claims process to our members
• Review and assess scopes of works submitted by suppliers to ensure they are accurate, appropriate and cost‑effective in line with policy coverage and claim outcomes.
• Attend joint on-site assessments with builders, restorers, engineers and other specialists where required to provide technical input and support the progression of claims
• Provide empathetic, expert advice and clear communication to customers and third parties throughout the claims process
• Liaise with claims officers, builders, restorers, investigators and other external stakeholders to progress claims and resolve issues
• Complete accurate reports, estimates, reserves and documentation to support claim decisions and compliance requirements
• Identify potential risks, complaints or suspicious claims and escalate appropriately while supporting continuous improvement
What You'll Bring
• Experience in insurance claims, loss adjusting, property assessing, building consulting or a relevant building trade
• Strong understanding of (or ability to quickly learn) insurance products, policy interpretation and causes of damage
• Empathetic, customer‑focused approach with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate reports and assessments
• Resilience and adaptability, particularly during periods of high demand or weather‑related events
• Confidence working with multiple stakeholders, including builders, suppliers and investigators
• Current valid driver’s licence
