Job Description
Role:
Assist customers with their mortgage lending needs: analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on mortgage lending policy.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet mortgage and regulatory standards. Approve or reject loan application, or request additional information. Establish terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews with customer.
- Market the bank's mortgage lending program to companies and individuals within the real estate community.
- Cross-sell other bank services.
- Evaluate acceptability of loan on secondary mortgage markets.
- Assemble documents in loan file, including acceptance or denial, and returns to file mortgage clerk.
- Keep informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
1. To produce assigned loan volume (dollars and/or numbers).
2. To insure that all approved loans comply with established loan standards.
3. To sell assigned volume of bank products and services.
4. To maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for customers and co-workers.
5. To maintain knowledge of all mortgage products and rates, both within bank and from the industry overall.
6. To maintain the confidentiality of all information as directed in mortgage procedures.
7. To comply with all state and federal regulations that are applicable to their specific job duties.
8. To complete all assigned training within the allotted time frame.
9. To provide friendly, professional and accurate service and support to all customers and employees.
10. Each position within the Company shares in the cross-selling of the Company's products and services.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills: Must have good communication skills; 10 key calculator and keyboard skills required.

Physical Requirements: The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must able to lift up to 50 pounds.
