A Brief Overview
Performs challenging and sometimes complicated facilitator activities under limited supervision, to enable effective application of lean/agile software development principles with latitude to apply independent judgement.

What you will do

  • Applies knowledge of best practices, well-developed lean/agile experience, domain knowledge and proven ability to overcome barriers and solve difficult technology problems.
  • Partners with product owners and other key stakeholders to achieve desired business outcomes by delivering working software on a regular cadence. Leads tradeoff discussions and develops alternatives when encountering barriers such as resource constraints. Must have flexibility and experience to shift between traditional and agile frameworks.
  • Provides enabling leadership for one or more delivery teams; facilitating all lean/agile ceremonies, guiding process improvements and ensuring all feedback loops are operating at optimal levels.
  • Coaches and trains existing and new team members on lean/agile principles to ensure consistency and improve overall productivity, quality and continuous delivery.
  • Develops internal network of lean/agile practitioners to define common practices and increase adoption of continuous delivery principles.
  • Monitors, tracks and reports on lean/agile metrics to provide visibility, increase productivity and optimize delivery.
  • Combines knowledge of industry best practices, personal insights and proven tactics to increase benefits promised by lean/agile methodologies. Pursues additional knowledge and education regarding industry best practices, trends and associated lean/agile principles.
  • Applies organizational change management methods to build awareness and understanding of lean/agile principles and facilitates adoption across the enterprise.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent experience required.
  • 4+ Years relevant experience in application development. Advanced software development and delivery skills; demonstrated ability to apply agile practices to support the effective delivery of business value in an agile or hybrid environment.
  • 6+ Years of application development experience on an agile delivery team in a fast-paced technology or financial services or insurance environment. 3+ years as a Scrum Master in an agile and/or hybrid environment. Working knowledge of Financial Management / Accounting system tools.
  • Advanced scrum master skills; demonstrated ability to evaluate product owner objectives and scope for feasibility, understanding and planning to meet success criteria.
  • Advanced people management skills, demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates in a technology environment; including the ability to delegate effectively. Ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and work under tight timelines; demonstrated ability to adjust to changing priorities and manage team dynamics in stressful conditions.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with various software development methodologies; demonstrated ability to discern "fit for purpose" methods and apply rationale to produce desired project outcomes.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to convey ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills; demonstrated ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted technology solutions.
  • Advanced communication and change management skills; demonstrated ability to influence a wide range of audiences, from individual contributors to senior leaders.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (Jira, Azure Dev Ops, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle. Familiarity with Lean, SixSigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Advanced risk mitigation and issue resolution skills; demonstrated ability to identify challenges and determine solutions preferred.
  • Industry certification(s) in various aspects of the Agile Framework or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional designation preferred.
