Health has been elevated to one of nine corporate priorities of the World Bank Group, a recognition that health is not merely a social sector concern but a foundational driver of poverty reduction, human capital development, and economic growth. This elevation is institutionalized through the WBG Health Targets and Results Scorecard, where health accounts for two corporate indicators: (1) the number of people receiving quality health, nutrition, and population services, and (2) the number of countries benefitting from strengthened capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to health emergencies. Health is also one of five priority sectors under the WBG Jobs Framework, reflecting the recognition that health systems are among the largest employers in most economies and that investment in health generates economic returns well beyond the sector itself. The Global Health Directorate is part of the WBG Knowledge Bank, which brings WBG's collective sector expertise together into a single, integrated system—combining insights from IBRD/IDA, IFC, and MIGA to deliver solutions that drive impact at scale in line with the WBG’s Health targets. Within the Global Health Directorate, the Health Solutions Impact team works on delivering scalable solutions to the WBG public and private sector clients to enable the achievement of WBG Health targets. International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. IFC has an active portfolio of $3.5 billion in health care companies in emerging markets. Through these investments and private sector advisory services, IFC enables private sector contribution to the WBG Health targets. WBG Global Health Advisory Services to the Private Sector WBG's Healthcare Advisory global programs targeting the private sector, under the Health Solutions unit, aim to establish the necessary conditions that will attract the private capital at scale in support of the WBG Health targets. This is also complemented by wide public outreach efforts which has the following objectives: • Engage with IFC’s existing and target clients, positioning IFC as a long-term partner and smart investor with strong sector expertise in healthcare sector. • Promomoting the importance of quality, ethics and operational excellence in private healthcare services and life sciences sectors to raise standards and fill gaps in overall health systems. DigiHealth/DigiPharma program has been designed to accelerate digital transformation in the health and pharmaceutical sectors in emerging markets. DigiHealth partners with healthcare organizations to develop digital transformation strategies, helping providers improve patient access and care. DigiPharma focuses specifically on pharmaceutical companies, supporting them in planning and executing their own digitization strategies to enhance patient outcomes, improve operational efficiency, and unlock new business opportunities. Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate WBG's ongoing commitment to utilising digital innovation to strengthen private health systems globally. IFC works with organization’s leadership to set a vision for digital transformation and to design a comprehensive roadmap for achieving that vision, through a series of assessments and technical workshops. The ETC will be responsible for : • Leading DigiHealth/DigiPharma platforms, ensuring their successful implementation and achievement of the intended results. • Driving ongoing innovation and improvement of the DigiHealth/DigiPharma offerings, in line with the needs of the WBG Health Implementation Plan, while maintaining their relevance and effectiveness for clients and other stakeholders. Support for the ETC will be provided by a multi-disciplinary team, composed of professionals based across several countries. This collaborative environment is designed to leverage diverse expertise and perspectives, enhancing the overall impact and reach of the DigiHealth and DigiPharma platforms. Each client delivery project will take approximately 16-20 weeks, and up to two or three projects may occur simultaneously. The ETC will also work with Health Advisory Lead and Digital and AI team of the Knowledge bank to adjust the offering and delivery model for more scalable reach. Roles Responsibilities: Client Engagement • Develop a pipeline of clients for DigiHealth/ DigiPharma by working with specialists and regional teams to pitch services to prospective clients. • Lead DigiHealth/ DigiPharma client engagements and act as main IFC contact for clients. Drive efficient resolution of roadblocks and delays to project progress by working closely with the client and relevant IFC teams. • Coordinate a team of specialists (consultants) for each client engagement, ensuring the right mix of skills in the team. • Support the conversion of DigiHealth/ DigiPharma client engagements into IFC investment mandates. • Lead outreach and communications for the DigiHealth/ DigiPharma program and clients. • Coordinate closely with regional upstream and advisory teams, global health advisory lead, health sector specialists and internal governance teams in program delivery and development. • Support teams in assessing needs and opportunities for investment and/or advisory services for companies, from the perspective of health technology and digital transformation. Product Development • Define the scope and methodology for the next phase of the DigiHealth and DigiPharma programs (DigiHealth/DigiPharma 2.0), and develop a concept that guarantees scalability and sustained alignment with the WBG Knowledge Bank’s strategy for digital health with focus on digitally enable primary healthcare. • Drive development of Digital Excellence Survey to scale relevant digital transformation and technology solutions to healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies operating in low-income countries. • Track emerging trends in digital health technology. Knowledge Management • Capture learnings from client engagements and share them within WBG and externally. • Contribute to the development of case studies, toolkits, industry overviews and primers on effective integration of technology into health development. • Lead or support other initiatives, including impact studies and/or development of new programs in technology, digital transformation and health. Project Management • Lead the day-to-day operations of the DigiHealth/ DigiPharma advisory platform including resourcing and budget management. • Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of DigiHealth/ DigiPharma results, ensuring a verifiable and robust dataset of client feedback. Incorporate lessons from monitoring and evaluation of other advisory/upstream programs. • Ensure the project meets internal and external reporting requirements and donor visibility requirements. • Manage all required project governance procedures including client IDD, legal agreements, payments and invoicing. • Measure the outcomes and impact of DigiHealth/ DigiPharma advisory platform and its contribution to the WBG/ IFC objective to support to deliver quality, affordable health services to 1.5 billion people by 2030.
