Schedule/Hours:

Seasonal; 6/24/2026 – 7/31/2026

Full-time; 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Monday – Friday

 

This position is responsible for:

Under the general supervision of the Corps Officer, the Seasonal Support Worker is responsible for providing students with individualized assistance to help them learn new concepts and complete assignments. Their duties include studying lesson plans and reviewing textbooks to prepare for a lesson, assigning additional projects and answering a student’s questions about a topic. Provides tutoring and assistance to the after-school programs for the Corps including youth club programs; summer/day camp; recommends creative and innovative ideas for program development. Plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, facilitates, and monitors a variety of lesson plans, recreational activities, events, and trips to meet the needs and interests of specific groups participating in Salvation Army programs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meets with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes and help students solve specific problems.
  • Supports classroom-centered activities, and as such, the emphasis and content of the tutoring sessions is determined by the student's needs.
  • Plans, promotes, coordinates, and facilitates activities on a regular basis to include recreational, entertaining, educational, and/or devotional topics.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Knowledge of the interests and needs of the specific group for which this job is responsible for serving. Ability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate recreational and educational programs. Ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with group members. Ability to prepare promotional materials to increase awareness and participation in activities. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. AND
  • Experience in an elementary or middle school setting preferred. AND
  • Six months of experience planning and coordinating recreational activities, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements.
