Title: Title I Home-School Intervention Counselor

Reports To: Principal

Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Counseling with eligibility for School Social Services and Attendance Certification
Valid West Virginia Counseling Certifications, PK-12 preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of child development, PK-12
Demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
Strong written and oral communication skills
Be familiar with local social agencies and the services they offer
Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a Title I Home-School Intervention Coordinator
Essential Functions: 
The essential functions of the Title I Home-School Intervention Coordinator will be to:

Be available to deal on an individual basis with students who are in crisis, whether academically, socially, emotionally, and/or behaviorally in the classroom.
Provide professional support to the Title I program in the areas of counseling for both student and parent in crisis situations.
Develop and conduct small group counseling sessions as needed to enhance positive self concepts of students.
Work cooperatively with agencies outside the school for the benefit of the students and parents.
Have knowledge and training in the diagnosis and treatment of behavior problems.
Assist staff in the development and implementation of appropriate discipline procedures.
Assist and make home interventions regarding severe attendance problems.
Read and become familiar with current Title I proposal.
Attend all Title I meetings and mandatory workshops.
Maintain professional competence through continuing education activities provided by Ohio County Schools and the Title I Administrator and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, county policy, and administrative regulations.
Maintain professional work habits.
Perform other duties assigned by the Principal, Title I Administrator, Assistant Superintendent, or Superintendent.
