The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring supplier performance meets quality, delivery, and cost expectations across the Americas region. Supports supplier qualification, APQP/SPPAP activities, corrective actions, and supplier development initiatives while collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and resolve quality issues
Role Responsibilities
· Execute APQP deliverables with suppliers, including process flow, PFMEA, control plans, and readiness reviews
· Validate key quality elements such as dimensional results, MSA (GR&R), and capability (Cp/Cpk) for critical characteristics
· Facilitate root cause analysis using structured methods (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
· Support escalation of high-risk supplier issues to senior SQEs and leadership as needed
· Assist in executing supplier development plans focused on reducing defects and improving delivery performance
· Conduct supplier audits (initial, surveillance, or special cause)
· Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal teams (Engineering, Procurement, Plant Quality)
· Support APD (new product development) and ECR (post-production changes) activities as assigned
· Contribute to regional and global Supplier Quality initiatives – continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)
3+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or engineering
Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP/SPPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, and GD&T
Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies (8D, 5 Whys)
Ability to travel up to 25–30% within the region (primarily Mexico)
Advanced English proficiency is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with external suppliers in manufacturing environments (plastics, metals, electronics, or assemblies)
Familiarity with automotive or industrial quality standards (IATF 16949, VDA 6.3)
Experience supporting audits or supplier assessments
Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or equivalent)
Valid visa and passport are preferred.
